ROSCon 2019 Presentation by David Marquez-Gamez, Phillip Maffettone (University of Liverpool)
In this talk we will present the use of ROS in scientific laboratories. We will focus on the integration and development of hardware and software architecture for chemist robots (robots that research chemistry). We consider the use of heterogeneous hardware platforms: robotics arms, mobile manipulators and standard laboratory equipment (e.g. solid dispensing, liquid dispensing). By defining a ROS based software architecture, we construct a seamless exploitation of these diverse platforms under “real-time”, safety and reliability requirements.
